Leesburg, VA (August 22, 2017) – Lots of new faces populated both sides of the net as the 2017 Volleyball season opened with a marquee matchup between two 2016 powerhouses. In the first official match for both teams, the Loudoun County Raiders hosted the Tuscarora Huskies.
The visitors came out battling, and took a well-earned set to open the match. But the Raiders were having none of it as they won a close second set and dominated the third to take a 2-1 lead.
Chas Sumser Photography was there to capture the action and emotion and posted a gallery of images from the game.
Just when you thought it was over though, the Huskies looked like they were going to force a fifth set. But Loudoun County found just enough grit to pull it out and win the match with a 25-23 fourth set thriller.
It was a great test for both teams. You could see some rough spots that are always apparent at the beginning of a season, but those will get worked out over time.
Final score: Loudoun County 3 - Tuscarora 1.
