Leesburg, VA (October 17, 2017) – In the midst of a breakout season, at 14-2, the Heritage Pride began a four-game home stand to cap off an outstanding campaign.
Tonight's opponent, the Woodgrove Wolverines, were solidly positioned, too. Their 12-6 record had them firmly in the top half of all Loudoun County high schools while fighting for third place in the Dulles District.
Chas Sumser Photography was there to capture the action and emotion and posted a gallery of images from the game.
The first set was easy as Heritage calmly and consistently put the game away. There was nothing flashy about the set, just solid play on attack, serve-receive and defense. Especially strong were the wall of blockers, two and three at a time, that rose against every Wolverine hit.
The visitors were not without their chances, and in both the second and third sets they took the lead late in the game. But there was no panic on the Pride side, and they coolly overtook Woodbridge each time.
For Heritage, upcoming matches against Park View and Loudoun Valley can't obscure the huge rematch coming against Loudoun County in the last game of the regular season. The winner of that match probably captures the top seed and a bye for the district tournament.
Final Score: Heritage 3 - Woodgrove 0
