Ashburn, VA (September 13, 2017) – Riding a three-game winning streak, the Rock Ridge Phoenix came out hot against visiting Stone Bridge. The Bulldogs were on a streak of their own--seven games, to be exact--but the home team managed to win the first set, 25-19. It took nearly perfect execution and a flawless substitution strategy, but it worked just right.

But Stone Bridge has truly earned their reputation as a perennial contenteder. Calmly, they reversed the tables and won the second set by almost the exact opposite score, 25-19. This time the Bulldogs were operating at high efficiency, and the Phoenix struggled a bit.
In the third set both teams were on their game. For sure, whoever won this one would have short odds to win the night. It was a classic period with both teams making huge plays and big hits. It took to extra points to win, but Stone Bridge managed to do so and came out on top, 27-25.
The fourth set felt somewhat like an afterthought as Rock Ridge appeared deflated after the tough third set. They hung in there, but Stone Bridge kept their momentum going and cruised to take the final set, 25-15.
Final score: Stone Bridge 3 - Rock Ridge 1.
