Ashburn, VA (September 29, 2016) – The tightly packed race in Conference 14 volleyball had Broad Run slightly ahead of Tuscarora in league play. The Huskies sported a better overall record, but their two conferences losses and record of 2-1 put them behind the Spartans who were 1-1 in conference as the match began. There is still a month left to play, but each match is becoming more and more important up and down the table.

In Broad Run's home gym, Tuscarora quickly sucked up all of the momentum. Behind a poised defense and a consistent attacking offense, they methodically racked up a big lead in no time at all, taking the first two sets, 25-20 and 25-19. The closeness of the scores did not really reflect how much control the Huskies maintained.
But that all switched around as Broad Run stormed back to take the next two sets, 25-17 and 25-18. The third and fourth sets really were a mirror image of the first two as the Spartans crashed the net and played a beautiful defensive game. The Huskies had a difficult time receiving serve and Broad Run took full advantage.
It would be somewhat hard to believe that the momentum could switch as dramatically again, but that's exactly what happened. The visitors jumped out to an early lead in the fifth and deciding set and cruised to the set win, 15-6, and the match victory, 3-2.
