Leesburg, VA (May 18, 2016) – Finishing second and third in Conference 14 guaranteed a showdown between Broad Run and Briar Woods in the conference tournament semi-finals. The Falcons won their first meeting, 2-1, on Spartan turf, and the two teams tied, 1-1, in the rematch at Briar Woods setting up what was sure to be a highly competitive contest. Chas Sumser was there to cover the action and posted a gallery of 71 images.

Final Score: Briar Woods 3 - Broad Run 1

The game proved to be every bit as competitive as expected. The Falcons took the halftime lead, 1-0, but Broad Run scored early in the second half to tie it up on a goal from Emma Kerns. However, Briar Woods controlled the run of play and kept consistent pressure on the Spartan goal. A brilliant run by Keegan Bragg led to a tap-in for Alyson Broecker. And a third goal midway through the second half proved to be insurmountable and advanced the Falcons to the final.
