Lansdowne, VA (May 18, 2017) – Playing in its first post-season game ever, the Riverside Rams girls soccer team hosted the Warren County Wildcats on a blistering mid-May afternoon.
From the start, the Rams dominated the match. If not for the play of the Wildcats' outstanding goalkeeper, the Rams would have been much further ahead than the 2-1 halftime score indicated. The goal they gave up came off of an unlucky defensive deflection of a corner kick. Beyond that, Warren County rarely penetrated the Riverside half of the field.
Chas Sumser, Viva Loudoun photographer, was there to capture the action and emotion and posted a gallery of images from the game.
And the second half was more of the same. Again, the opposing goalkeeper made several terrific stops of Ram breakaways, but Riverside was able to beat her two more times for a resounding victory.
Final score: Riverside 4 - Warren County 1.
