06.05.18 Girls Lacrosse: Dominion @ Riverside, VHSL Class 4 Semifinal

Lansdowne, VA (June 5, 2018) – The first time they met, in the midst of the Dominion Titans' undefeated regular season, the Riverside Rams were among those teams that couldn't win. The second time they met was in the Region 4C Final and the Rams handed the Titans their first loss.

And now, in the VHSL Class 4 semifinal, they would meet again to decide the season series and send one team to the state championship game.

Chas Sumser Photography was there to capture the action and emotion and posted a gallery of images from the game.

Riverside picked up right where they left off and bolted to a 5-1 lead with just ten minutes gone. But Dominion had earned their right to be in this match and they methodically clawed their way back into it. At halftime, the Rams' lead was just 6-5 and Dominion was on the rise.

Right after halftime, Dominion's Catherine Renick tied the score, and it seemed like all of the momentum had swung their way. Unfortunately, Riverside had other ideas, and that was as close to the lead as the Titans would ever get. From that point, Riverside would outscore Dominion 8-2 and walk away with a ticket to the championship game.

The Rams were led on the scoreboard by Bryn McGaughey and Jenna Greason who had four goals apiece. Dominion was led by Jessica Lee, who also had four goals, and Renick who added two.

Final score: Riverside 14 - Dominion 8
