2017.10.06 Football: Potomac Falls @ John Champe Homecoming

Aldie, VA (October 6, 2017) – On a festive homecoming evening, the home stands at John Champe stadium were packed with students, alumni, friends and family members. Perfect for Friday night football.

Entering the game, both teams were struggling a bit. Both were victims of tough schedules and both had lost their previous two games. At 1-3, the Panthers from Potomac Falls really needed a win to get their season jump started. After a 3-0 start, the home-standing Knights were now looking for a victory to stay above .500.

Chas Sumser Photography was there to capture the action and emotion and posted a gallery of images from the game.

A spectacular halftime show--after the game

The majority of the first three quarters were played very well and very tight. John Champe seemed to be more effective on offense than Potomac Falls, but when they got close to the end zone their drives consistently stalled.

Give credit to both defenses for stiffening when they needed to. Most of the game seemed to be played between the twenty-five yard lines with only a few entries into the red zone for either team.

But just when everyone thought the fourth quarter would start scoreless, quarterback Cameron Parson found Brandon Burdick in the back of the end zone for the only touchdown--or points of any kind--of the game.

That margin would indeed represent victory for the Knights on a bittersweet evening that saw injured lacrosse team member Ryan Kwak recognized as the homecoming king during a beautiful and touching halftime show.

Final score: John Champe 7 - Potomac Falls 0
