Ashburn, VA (September 17, 2018) – Coming off a tough loss to Heritage, the Stone Bridge Bulldogs got a lucky break when the matchup with the Riverside Rams was moved to Bulldog Stadium due to the possibility of inclement weather. Time would tell which would arrive first, bad weather or more good luck.

Well, the bad weather never came and all the good fortune was on the Riverside, er, side. While the entire match was very balanced, The Rams steadily and methodically won this one with a combination of solid defense and virtually impenetrable defense.
In fact, for the first quarter of the match, the two teams were deadlocked. Riverside had more shots and more corners, but neither team could score. Finally, however, hardworking forward Gurnoor Dhaliwal scored the first of her two goals and Lydia Oldknow added another to give the Rams a solid, but not unbeatable 2-0 halftime lead.
Stone Bridge continued to press in the second half, but still could not penetrate the Riverside goal. They were clearly more productive, but when Sophie Kim extended the Rams lead to 3-0, the Bulldogs level of intensity began to noticeably sag. Dhaliwal would score again and Eva Vacura would add the final tally to make it 5-0 as time ran out.
It's four week away--and a lot can happen in that time--but there is a huge match looming in early October. Right now, both the Rams and the Heritage Pride seem unbeatable, but only one of them will emerge a winner that night.
Final score: Riverside 5 - Stone Bridge 0
