Sterling, VA (October 5, 2017) – It was 1-1 at halftime, but what did you expect? With the Heritage Pride visiting the Dominion Titans the matchup included two of the top three teams in the Dulles District, and it was bound to be a tight one.
The first half of play was excellent. In front of a "senior night" crowd, the Titans were aggressive and emotional and got some early chances that they couldn't quite finish. On the other side, the Pride was able to make that same level of effort pay off as Josie Rossbach found the back of the goal early for a 1-0 lead.
It looked like that's the way the half would end, but stationed at the corner of the Heritage goal was Titan forward Jessica Lee who calmly redirected a teammate's shot to tie the score and shift the momentum back to the home team.
Chas Sumser Photography was there to capture the action and emotion and posted a gallery of images from the game.
The second half was just as tightly played, and included the same number of goals, but Heritage would get them both. In fact, both were scored by Rossbach who came up large in a huge game and completed the hat trick against a very good Titan defense.
Dominion lost for only the second time this season, but Heritage and Riverside now sit alone atop the Dulles District standings.
Final score: Heritage 3 - Dominion 1.
