Ashburn, VA (October 17, 2016) – All indications are that the inaugural first season of high school field hockey in Loudoun County will be seen as a huge success. The season will wrap up over the next two days with final matches played across the county. Hopefully, the trend of double-headers will continue next season.
The four teams playing tonight showed marked improvement from the first games played less than two months ago. The chance to see Briar Woods, Broad Run, Loudoun County and Woodgrove in one night was priceless.
Chas Sumser Photography was there to capture the action and posted a separate gallery of photos from each game.
Game 1: Loudoun County 2 - Broad Run 1
Both teams in this match have struggled a bit this season with more wins than losses to show for their efforts. However, they competed well in a tightly played match.
Loudoun County scored midway through the second half to take a commanding 2-0 lead, but Broad Run scored to cut the margin in half. There wasn't enough time to come all the way back, and the Raiders went home with a hard-earned victory.
