Sterling, VA (September 12, 2016) – On a warm, but not stifling evening, four Loudoun County high school field hockey teams met to continue the growth and acceptance of this new sport. It's clear from the maturing level of play that the players and teams are increasing their skill, which makes the flow of play more even and exciting.
Game 1: Heritage 2 - Dominion 0
In a game that featured two of the areas strongest teams, Heritage controlled the run of play, but was continually thwarted by Dominion's strong defense and the outstanding effort of goalie Hannah Johnston.
The first half ended in a 0-0 tie, and the second half began just as equally balanced. Pride forward Josie Rossbach finally broke the stalemate and scored two goals, including a one-on-one rare penalty stroke.
