Sterling, VA (January 26, 2018) – The Potomac Falls Panthers were hustling all over the court, making defensive stops, hitting all of their shots, and rebounding like crazy. And the Freedom Eagles looked sluggish and a little hesitant inside the Panther Pit. While the visitors would briefly lead twice, the home team built an insurmountable lead as the buzzer sounded.
Oh, wait, that was just the first quarter, and it was just 21-13. And that's why they play four.

Despite the surprise of trailing so quickly, the Eagles played it cool. Gradually, they began to get back into the game and with 3:30 left in the second period they had finally tied the score. Outscoring the Panthers 20-5 in the quarter, they held a halftime lead they would never relinquish.
It didn't help that Potomac Falls' big man, Ian Anderson, was in foul trouble most of the game. His impact was immediate, but he was not on the court enough to sustain it.
The Freedom senior backcourt triumvirate of Jeremy Cofield, Zyan Collins, and Cleo Green were the story of the game. Sometimes they whipped the ball around the court and then neatly zipped it inside to waiting forwards for easy layups. And other times they drove the lane for buckets of their own. Without Anderson in the middle, Potomac Falls was unable to consistently stop the Eagle attack.
Occasional Panther second half surges brought the margin within ten, but each time Freedom would find a way to adjust and pull further ahead again.
Final score: Freedom 72 - Potomac Falls 58
