Aldie, VA (February 3, 2017) – With their lineup depleted due to injury, the John Champe Knights knew that their matchup with the conference-leading Freedom Eagles was going to be tough. They probably didn't know just how tough it would be.
From the outset, it was all Freedom. In fact, the score at the end of the first quarter exemplified the power the visitors displayed. By the time that first buzzer was heard over the din of the packed gym, it was 20-0.
Chas Sumser, Viva Loudoun photographer, was there to capture the action and emotion and posted a gallery of images from the game.
In the end, the visitors hoisted the conference title and the Braddock Road Bell, symbolizing overall winter sports dominance in the ongoing Champe-Freedom rivalry. Final score: 52-14.
